In an effort to better serve our students and families the DCS Library/Media Center will be open
each morning at 7:45-3:15 for students to come and utilize our new computer center. It also provides
a very quiet study environment that is available to our students any time during the day. The only
requirement is that they bring a pass from a teacher to present to the teacher on duty. We
encourage our students to take advantage of our wonderful updated Media Center to help
further develop their research and literacy skills, and support classroom instruction.

- CONGRATULATIONS MRS. CAROLE LEWIS - Mrs. Lewis has been chosen for membership in
the University of South Carolina College Counselor Advisory Board. She will serve a two-
year term. Members of the CCAB work with the USC Office of Undergraduate Admissions to
find ways to enhance the college admissions process and to better serve high school
students in the college application process. They will work for the two years with their
students and with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in a different role, and will
gain valuable professional experience. The first meeting of the CCAB was held on Nov.
6, 2013, on the campus of the University of South Carolina at Capstone House. Twenty-
nine College Counselors from public and private schools across the states met
for the day to discuss various topics concerning the status of college readiness of South
Carolina students and the college application/admissions process. Representatives
from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions reviewed their admissions
applications and procedures, and asked for input from all counselors as to
how to improve the application and the application process for high school counselors
and students. Again, we congratulate Mrs. Lewis and appreciate all of the hard work she does for
students, parents, faculty and staff here at Dillon Christian School!
- GUIDANCE CORNER
Dates to Remember:
- Dec. 27 - Regular Registration Deadline for Jan. 25 SAT
- As many of you know, every fall our PTF holds a school-wide fundraiser to help purchase supplemental materials and equipment to enhance the learning potential of each student. The new Promethean boards and computer station in the library are just two items funded, in part, through the PTF. In addition, updates to the Science lab, improvements to the playground area and special events will be funded primarily through the PTF. Our most important and under-utilized fundraiser is the Scrips gift card program (no selling required!) and then the Innisbrook fundraiser. We need about $25,000 to accomplish the following: Purchase of 4 additional Promethean Boards/purchase new stools for the science lab and computer stations in the Library/update playground equipment & area/provide funding for special School events/ceremonies. Please help us reach our goal!!!
SCRIPS PROGRAM:DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE SCRIPS PROGRAM. THERE ARE GREAT GIFT CARDS IN THE OFFICE AND WHAT IS NOT IN STOCK, WE CAN ORDER FOR YOU. PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY THAT HELPS OUR SCHOOL. WE APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU DO IN SUPPORT OF DILLON CHRISTIAN. WE COVET YOUR PRAYERS AND ARE VERY THANKFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!
- There are many areas of the DCS campus and facilities that have been identified as needing the attention of skill-specific tradesmen. We are creating a master list of professionals and volunteers who would be willing to donate some of their time and expertise to help assist with specific maintenance needs
and with general projects throughout the school. The list would exist so that when a problem is identified, we would be able to contact that particular individual and ask for assistance. Several examples of who we are looking for would be plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, mechanical contractors, masons, land-scapers, architects, engineers and any other trade that you would be willing to apply at our school. If you are interested and willing to help, please contact Brandon Love at 910-733-6865 (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Amanda Mussman at 843-841-1000, email@example.com
REMINDER: TUITION IS DUE ON THE 1ST OF EACH MONTH AND NO LATER THAN THE 10TH . WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS IN THIS MATTER.
***In times of inclement weather, DCS follows the Dillon County Schools System policy. We will also try to email everyone, update the website as soon as possible with that same information as well as TV channels WBTW and WMBF.
